Sunderland-West Ham disorder: Six more arrests made

Further arrests have been made in connection with disorder which broke out ahead of a Premier League clash between Sunderland and West Ham.

Violence, which police think was pre-arranged, erupted in Sunderland city centre on 12 January.

Northumbria Police said it had made six further arrests - including a 15-year-old boy - bringing the total number to 14.

Eleven have been bailed pending further inquiries and three are in custody.

Police said those arrested included two men aged 51 and 28 from Houghton, a 15-year-old boy from Spennymoor, a 26-year-old from Gateshead and two 16-year-old boys - all on suspicion of violent disorder.

Police said trouble broke out before the match outside Revolution Bar, in Low Row.

A spokeswoman said 13 others were being sought in connection with the disorder.
