Ten arrests in Marske Terrace woman's drug death probe

Ten people were arrested after a woman died after taking drugs at a house in Newcastle, police said.

Officers were called to an address in Marske Terrace on Sunday afternoon after reports a 29-year-old woman had been taken ill.

She later died after having a "severe" drug reaction, police said.

Ten men and women, who were also at the address, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of controlled drugs.

They were later bailed pending further inquiries.

Acting Supt Bruce Storey, of Northumbria Police, said: "As a precaution officers are trying to trace anyone else who might have been at the address and taken any of the drugs to ensure they get checked over at hospital straight away."
