A man has appeared before magistrates charged with the murder of a woman found dead in a North Tyneside barber shop.

The body of Lisa Jane Banks was found inside the Sole-O barber shop in Nile Street, North Shields, on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination revealed the 46-year-old, who was pronounced dead at the scene, suffered multiple injuries.

Robert Tiffin, also 46, from Nile Street, was remanded to appear before Newcastle Crown on 12 September.
