Ellington caravan park fires treated as arson

A fire which severely damaged a caravan in Northumberland is being treated as arson.

Police were called to Cresswell Towers, in Ellington in the early hours, by the fire service.

The caravan was occupied at the time, but those inside managed to escape without any injury.

It later emerged that lit paper was pushed through a window of another caravan, but it was extinguished before fire could take hold.

Northumbria Police has appealed for anyone with information to come forwards.
