Police in Whitley Bay seize drugs from 'head shop'

Police have seized more than 1,000 items, including controlled drugs and paraphernalia, from a "head shop" in North Tyneside.

The planned raid on Smoking Gadgets on Station Road in Whitley Bay on Thursday was in response to public concern about low-level crime, police said.

Officers said locals were worried legal highs and banned drugs were fuelling crime and anti-social behaviour.

Head shops specialise in tobacco and legal highs.
