Man hit by bus after Northumbria Police release dies

A man who was hit by a bus after being released from police custody has died.

The 38-year-old was hit near Togston East Farm Cottage, Hadston, Northumberland on Thursday morning.

He was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Hospital, but died.

Northumbria Police said he had been arrested on Wednesday afternoon. The force has referred the matter to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, because of the man's contact with police.
