Martin Ruddy charged with murdering parents in Newcastle

A Tyneside man has appeared before magistrates charged with murdering his parents.

Martin Ruddy, 28, is accused of killing Eric Ruddy, 64, and wife Carol, 54, at their home in Elswick, Newcastle.

Appearing at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court, he spoke only to confirm he understood the charges against him and to confirm to he was of no fixed abode.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on 6 January.
