David Wilson murder police seek Sunderland mugging witnesses

Police investigating a murder in Sunderland are releasing CCTV images of people involved in an alleged mugging they need to speak to.

David Wilson, 51, died at a house in Southwick Road on Sunday.

Officers are seeking witnesses to an alleged mugging at the Post Office cash machine from earlier on Sunday morning which they believe is linked.

A 34-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Det Ch Insp Christina Barrett said: "We are focusing on a mugging that was reported to have happened in the area of Southwick Green some time between 03:30 GMT and 04:15 GMT on Sunday.

"The footage shows there were people in the area around the Post Office ATM and we really need to identify and speak to them about what happened there."
