Northumbria Police chief Sue Sim in 'misconduct' probe
The chief constable of Northumbria Police Sue Sim is to be investigated over alleged rudeness to colleagues.
Police and crime commissioner Vera Baird said some officers wished to make complaints which "merit investigation".
Ms Baird said: "The chief constable may have fallen short of her duty as a police officer to treat colleagues with respect and courtesy."
Mrs Sim said she would "co-operate fully" with the investigation into her behaviour.
She was "keen to do so at the earliest opportunity in the interests of Northumbria Police and the public we serve", she said.
Mrs Sim would not be suspended during the investigation into alleged misconduct, Ms Baird said.
She stressed the probe was not currently into gross misconduct.
Ms Baird said she had appointed Joel Bennathan QC to carry out the investigation.
