Pedestrian killed on rural Northumberland road named

A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on a rural road in Northumberland has been named.

Colin Gordon Tailford was treated at the scene between Matfen and Ryal, before being taken by police helicopter to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary where he later died.

The incident happened at about 23:00 BST on Sunday and involved a Ford Ka. Police have appealed for witnesses.

The 54-year-old was from the Ingoe area of the county.
