Cash seized during Durham Police drugs raids

More than £100,000 in cash was discovered at a home during police raids targeting suspected drug dealers.

Nine properties in Easington Lane, South Hetton, Sunderland and South Shields were searched by Durham Police.

Six men and two women aged between 29 and 74 were arrested on suspicion of a range of offences including conspiracy to supply class A drugs and money laundering.

The money was found in the bottom of a fitted bedroom unit.

A quantity of what were believed to controlled drugs were also recovered.
