Washington man pleads guilty to attempted murder of woman
A 34-year-old man has admitted stabbing a woman on Wearside in an attempt to kill her.
John Robert Barron from Avon Terrace, Washington carried out the attack at about 06:40 GMT on 26 November last year.
The woman had to be treated in hospital, Northumbria Police said.
Barron pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was remanded in custody. He will return to Newcastle Crown Court in May for sentencing.
