Aftab Ahmed in court over 'threat to behead' UKIP candidate David Robinson-Young
A man has appeared in court to deny threatening to behead a UKIP election candidate in Newcastle.
Aftab Ahmed is charged with making threat to kill on the phone to David Robinson-Young during a conversation about the Middle East on 21 April.
Mr Ahmed, 44, of Winchcombe Place, Newcastle, was granted conditional bail until July by magistrates in the city.
Mr Robinson-Young, 62, is standing as a candidate in the constituency of Newcastle East.
