Man killed in three-vehicle crash in Gateshead

A man has died following a three-vehicle collision in Gateshead.

A Vauxhall Astra, a Peugeot 207 and a Ford Mondeo collided at about 05:40 BST on the A695 in Crawcrook.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later died.

The driver of the Peugeot, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the Ford was uninjured.
