Man arrested after girl, 16, raped in Lemington

A man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a girl in Newcastle.

The 16-year-old was walking along a disused railway track in the Lemington area at 10:45 BST on 27 May when she was grabbed and attacked.

After the assailant, who was dressed all in black and wearing a balaclava, left, she telephoned for help and was taken to hospital.

Northumbria Police said a 31-year-old man had been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.
