Whitley Bay promenade designs unveiled
Designs have been unveiled for a new promenade as part of a £36m scheme to regenerate part of the North-East of England coastline.
Plans for Whitley Bay include new seating, shelters, leisure facilities, shops, businesses and public art.
North Tyneside elected mayor Norma Redfearn said it would be "attractive, safe, clean and accessible".
The plans were "respectful to the historic importance of the area and the stunning views", she said.
Colours, materials and facilities would reflect the "different character" of each part of the seafront, North Tyneside Council said.
