Seven men have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a man died following an incident at a club.

At about 01:00 BST police were called to the Loveshack in Walkergate, Durham, following reports of a disturbance.

Durham Police said two men were detained outside by door staff, when one of the men became distressed and required treatment from paramedics.

The 54-year-old man from Hetton-le-Hole, who has not been named, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Police said a post-mortem examination was due to be carried out to establish a cause of death.

Seven men arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and an eighth man, arrested for a public order offence, have been released on bail pending further enquiries until September.
