Stewart Anderson: IPCC to investigate Durham Loveshack death

The police watchdog is investigating after a man died following a disturbance at a Durham nightclub.

Stewart Anderson, 54, of Hetton-le-Hole, County Durham, became unwell outside the Loveshack club early on 24 July and died later in hospital.

As Durham Police officers had attended the incident the force contacted the Independent Police Complaints Commission as a matter of routine.

The IPCC investigation will focus on the actions of the officers.

Seven men arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and another for a public order offence remain on bail pending further inquiries.
