Sunderland rescue: Teenager 'critical' after dinghy rescue

A 17-year-old youth pulled from the sea is critically ill, while three other teenagers rescued from a dinghy off Sunderland are stable, police said.

Some of the party were reported to be in the water at the mouth of the Wear, near to the Old Pier and yacht club, at 15:22 BST.

One of them was rescued from the sea, while two more were taken from the dinghy.

All of them were being treated at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
