Durham man charged over serious club assault

A man has been charged with attacking a teenager in a Durham nightclub, leaving him seriously ill.

Police sealed off and cleared K2 club in John Street, Consett, after being called in the early hours of Saturday.

The 18-year-old victim was taken to Newcastle General Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and is due before Newton Aycliffe magistrates on Monday.
