Police in County Durham hunt 'Scream mask' raider
A man wearing a mask similar to that seen in the Scream horror films brandished a gun and a knife at shop staff in County Durham, police said.
The incident happened at the Simply Food and Drink store in the Blackhill area of Consett on 23 September.
No-one was hurt, but a female shop assistant was treated for shock.
Durham Police said the raider, who was aged about 19, was 5ft 9in tall, slim and spoke with a local accent, fled empty handed.
A force spokesman said: "The man's face was covered by a Scream-style Halloween mask.
"He pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the shop worker and demanded money before then brandishing a knife.
"Moments later he ran out of the store empty-handed after the alarm was raised. He was seen heading towards Benfieldside Road."
