Officers out in force in Bishop Auckland at Christmas

Extra police officers will be on patrol in a County Durham town to catch thieves over the festive season.

Teams, including police community support officers (PCSOs), will be out in force in Bishop Auckland's shopping areas as part of Operation Padstow.

A police spokesman said the force wanted to promote the town as a safe place to shop and socialise.

Both uniformed and plain clothes officers will patrol the town in the run up to Christmas.
