Pair charged after cocaine seized near Darlington

Two men have been charged with possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply after cocaine was found in a car in County Durham.

Police stopped the vehicle on the A167 near Darlington on Wednesday evening, and discovered a kilo of the drug.

A further half kilo was later recovered from a house in Middlesbrough.

A 26-year-old Ormesby man and a 24-year-old of no fixed abode, will appear before Newton Aycliffe magistrates later.

Durham Police said the drugs would have had a street value of between £50,000 and £300,000, depending on the purity of the cocaine.
