More than 30 firefighters were called to tackle a fire at a waste recycling plant in County Durham.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service was called to Alltrac Waste Management, on the Hetton Lyons Industrial Estate, Hetton-le-Hole, shortly after 1300 GMT.

The first floor of the building was reported to be well alight.

Crews using two aerial platforms and seven pumps were tackling the flames. The fire service said it was too early to identify the cause of the fire.
