Man remanded accused of making bomb in Horden

A man has been remanded in custody accused of making an explosive device at an address in County Durham.

Nicholas Smith was arrested on Sunday night after police searched a property in Twelfth Street, Horden, after a report of anti-social behaviour.

Mr Smith was arrested and charged with making an explosive with intent to endanger life.

The 53-year-old appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until 17 May.
