Stolen horse box rams Durham Police car

A police car was badly damaged when it was rammed by a stolen horse box in County Durham.

Officers pulled the vehicle over on the A68, near Howden-le-Wear early on Wednesday.

As they went to speak to the occupants, it was reversed at speed into their patrol car, causing extensive damage to the front.

The horse box, which had been taken from a farm in Langley Park, was later found abandoned in a field near Crook.

Police are seeking two men, who could have been hurt when the vehicle, which can carry up to four horses, crashed into the field.
