A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing after a woman was taken ill at a party in Gateshead.

Officers were called to Old Durham Road in the early hours of Sunday after reports the 25-year-old woman had suffered an adverse reaction to LSD.

She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead in a critical condition but has since recovered.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply and bailed.
