Police officers stabbed in Darlington street attack
Two police officers have been stabbed in a street in Darlington.
The pair were called to the rear of Gurney Street after reports of a man acting suspiciously.
The force said he became violent when they approached. One was injured in the arm, the other in the head. The wounds are not thought to be life threatening.
A 22-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after members of the public helped the police officers.
A Durham Police spokesman said: "People can be reassured that this was an isolated incident and is in no way linked to any wider disorder."
He appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, about 11:00 BST, to contact the force.
