Arrests after inmate found dead at Frankland Prison
Three prisoners have been arrested after a fellow-inmate was found dead in a cell in a County Durham jail.
The 23-year-old, from Wolverhampton, was pronounced dead at HM Frankland Prison shortly after 10:00 GMT on Saturday.
Durham Police confirmed it had started a "homicide" investigation and three inmates had been arrested.
They are due to be interviewed by detectives and the cell has been cordoned off for forensic examinations.
Frankland holds more than 800 of the most serious offenders in the prison system.
The 23-year-old man will not be identified until relatives have been informed.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
