Durham policeman crashes into Horden house wall

A Durham police officer was injured when he crashed his patrol car into a house while on a 999 call.

The 40-year-old was on his way to a robbery scene when he swerved to avoid a van and hit the lounge wall of the house in Eleventh Street, Horden.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with whiplash and released.

The wall of the house was damaged and Durham Police is investigating the crash. The officer's Vauxhall Astra also suffered damage.
