Rising fuel cost affects Swindon branch of charity

The manager of a charity branch that supports families with seriously ill children has said the rising cost of fuel could affect the service.

The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity sends family support workers to the homes of children with life-threatening conditions.

Brian Short, manager of the Swindon branch, said the fuel bill for its five vehicles now totalled £1,200 a month.

He said plans to reach more families could now be put on hold.

Mr Short said the charity relied on donations.

"We were really hoping to increase the size of the team to reach more families but certainly I can see that being put on hold if these increases go ahead," he said.

"As the manager I don't really know where I'm going to find this extra money... it comes down to approximately £700 a month."
