Loss of Swindon home care team to be debated
Plans to replace Swindon Borough Council's home care service with a privately run scheme will be discussed at a special meeting next week.
The debate will take place on 24 March following pressure from opposition Labour councillors.
The team provides care to some of the most vulnerable adults in the town.
But the ruling Conservative group says the team is not delivering value for money and the service can be provided more effectively by a private operator.
The council announced in January that 64 home care jobs are expected to go at the end of March
Nine thousand people have signed a petition in an effort to save the service.
