Family escape house fire in Devizes

A family managed to escape from their terraced home in Wiltshire when fire broke out.

Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said it was called to the three-storey home in Keepers Road, London Road, Devizes at 0800 BST.

"When firefighters arrived the building was well alight," a spokeswoman said.

A teenage boy was taken to hospital for treatment after he was hurt jumping to safety from a second floor window. A pet dog is unaccounted for.

Crews spent more than four hours putting the fire out and making the building safe. The cause of the fire is not known and is being investigated.

All three floors of the house and the roof space were affected, a fire service spokeswoman said.
