Two men sought in Wootton Bassett jewellery shop theft

Police are looking for two men in connection with a burglary at a jewellery shop in Wiltshire.

A man used a sledgehammer to smash the shop window in High Street, Wootton Bassett, on Thursday lunchtime and took display items.

Police said a silver Seat Leon car used by the thieves was later seen heading towards the M4. The vehicle was later found abandoned.

A third man, thought to be the driver, was arrested in Swindon.

The man who is thought to have used the sledgehammer was described as black, in his early 20s, of average build and between 5ft 10ins and 6ft (1.77-1.82m) tall. He was possibly wearing a baseball cap.

The other man was described as white, also in his early 20s and of the same height and build. He was said to have dark spiky hair and was possibly wearing a dark jacket.

Wiltshire Police ask anyone with information or who may have witnessed the raid to contact them.
