A 19-year-old woman has been seriously sexually assaulted in a Swindon.

The attack happened at about 0545 BST in an alleyway near Beatrice Street and the TK Maxx store in Great Western Way.

Wiltshire Police are trying to trace the victim's mobile phone, a grey-coloured Nokia, which has been missing since the incident.

There is no description of the attacker at this time and officers are working with the woman to establish the exact sequence of events.

The victim has not been able to describe her phone other than that it is neither a touchpad nor a slide phone.

Det Ch Insp Ian Saunders said: "Offences of this nature are particularly difficult to investigate and I am therefore appealing for help from the public.

"I know that the victim was in Faringdon Park at approximately 9pm last night [13 May] and I also know that she was in the area of Beatrice Street and TK Maxx at approximately 5.45am this morning.

"I need to establish her movements between these two times and locations and am therefore keen to speak to anyone who saw her either last night or in the early hours of this morning."
