Swindon iron bar attack fractures victim's pelvis

A man was hit with an iron bar as he waited for a taxi in Swindon's Old Town.

A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said he was waiting with three other men at Hooper's Place when a man emerged from an alleyway.

He hit the victim on the hip with the bar, fracturing his pelvis.

The victim was taken to the Great Western Hospital following the attack, which happened at about 0400 BST on Saturday.

The attacker is described as white, aged about 18 to 20 and was wearing dark jeans, trainers and a hooded top.

He was with two other men, who watched the attack. The three then left the scene.

The force spokeswoman appealed for witnesses.
