Salisbury church hall fire investigation starts

An investigation has started into the cause of a serious fire at a church hall in Salisbury.

Firefighters were called to St Francis church hall, which is used as a pre-school nursery, in Beatrice Road just before 1530 BST on Friday.

Officers described the fire as severe and appliances came from Salisbury, Wilton, Amesbury, Tisbury and Devizes to tackle the blaze.

It was put out by 1700 BST but crews remained for some time to damp down.
