RAF Lyneham closure threatens local school jobs

The head teacher of a Wiltshire school near an RAF base planned to close next year has said jobs will have to go.

Julie Carr said the number of pupils at Lyneham Primary School, near RAF Lyneham, had dropped by a 10th since September.

She said that was because many families had already transferred to RAF Brize Norton, in Oxfordshire.

Ms Carr said they were reducing in size and would lose staff but would hopefully "grow again".

RAF Lyneham is due to be shut by the end of 2012.
