Woman killed when car hits telegraph pole

A 43-year-old woman was killed when her car crashed into a telegraph pole near Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire.

It happened at about 1210 BST on Tuesday on the B4696 at Lydiard Plain, next to Plain Farm, just north of the junction with Wood Lane.

The woman, from Wootton Bassett, was driving north in a silver Chevrolet Matiz which left the road and ended up on its side.

No-one else was in the car and no other vehicle was involved in the crash.

Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have seen the car just before the collision, to get in touch.
