A man has died in an accident at an abattoir in Wiltshire.

Wiltshire police were called to reports of an injured man at F Drury and Sons at Tockenham, near Wootton Bassett, on Thursday evening.

Police officers and paramedics attended but the man, in his 40s, was declared dead at the scene.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death is under way.

A Great Western Ambulance Service spokeswoman said one of its senior managers was driving through the area when the 999 call was received.

"When he got there he quickly evaluated the patient but unfortunately he had passed away," she added.
