A convoy of three steam locomotives is set to cause delays for motorists in south Wiltshire.

The engines, which are also hauling a trailer, are heading from Sussex to the Great Dorset Steam Fair at Tarrant Hinton.

The "road train" is due to cross into Wiltshire, on the A27 and A36 towards Salisbury, at 08:00 BST on 27 August.

Travelling at an estimated 5mph, the convoy will travel to Tarrant Hinton on the A354 on 28 August.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "Due to the size of this 'road train' it will be extremely slow moving and as it is travelling over a Bank Holiday it will have the potential to create congestion.

"Regular updates and travel information in respect of this load will be passed from our control room at Devizes when appropriate to help motorists plan their journey."
