A Swindon councillor suspended from the Labour Party pending an investigation into her conduct has been reinstated.

Ellen Osa took the Walcot seat from Conservative cabinet member Peter Mallinson at the May local elections.

But she was suspended in June pending an investigation into conduct "in a personal capacity", according to the Swindon Labour Group.

All her rights as a party member have now been reinstated.

A South West Labour spokesperson said: "Following the conclusion of an internal Party investigation Councillor Ellen Osa has now had her administrative suspension from the Labour Party lifted, and her full rights as a party member reinstated.

"This includes the right to hold the Labour Party whip on the council, and hold office within and on behalf of the Labour Party."

Throughout the investigation Ms Osa remained in her post as a Swindon Borough Councillor as an independent member, but no longer held the Labour Party whip on the council.
