Traffic-calming measures for part of Warminster

Traffic calming is to be put into part of Warminster because a new development has meant more vehicles passing through.

Speed cushions will be put along Grovelands Way which campaigners say will ease problems for children walking to school or crossing the road.

Town mayor, Pip Ridout, said he "wholeheartedly" welcomed the news.

"This road is already a rat run for cars trying to avoid most of West Street," Mr Ridout said.

"Thank goodness someone has seen sense and taken action to make the developer abide by the conditions imposed at the time of approval of the site," Mr Ridout added.

The move was rubber-stamped by the Conservative-controlled Wiltshire Council as part of its agreement with Persimmon Homes over the Victoria Road development.
