Swindon's council housing sell-off plan views sought

A second consultation has begun into a planned sale of 10,500 council homes in Swindon.

Critics of the proposals believe the sell-off does not represent good value for money for the council or a good service for tenants.

Conservative-controlled Swindon Borough Council said it needed the sell-off to save money and was unable to keep its current level of service in the future.

Tenants are expected to have a vote over the issue in early December.

Previously 78% of tenants who took part in a consultation in 2009 were against the idea of selling off the homes.
