Extra residents' parking places for part of Swindon

Work has started to provide an additional 100 residents' parking places in the Eastcott area of Swindon.

The move will see some double yellow lines removed and a number of short-term spaces redesignated.

After six months the borough council will consider representations from the public and decide what changes, if any, need to be made.

The cost of the work is £15,000. If successful the scheme could be made permanent.

It follows a consultation throughout the areas covered by residents parking zones D and E, which cover 35 streets.

The 18-month-long experimental traffic order comes into force on 1 November.
