The chairman of the NHS trust in Salisbury has been elected on to the governing body of the city's cathedral.

Luke March will take a place on the Salisbury Cathedral Chapter, the governing body which oversees its work, finances, property, and possessions.

He has been chairman of the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust since 2005.

Mr March said he is pleased to be joining the group and is looking forward to serving the cathedral.

"I hope that my experience in both the private and public sectors, together with my charity experience and passion for the vibrant future of our great cathedral and its part in our diocese, will enable me to contribute positively as a new member of Chapter," he said.

The Dean of Salisbury, the Very Revd June Osborne, said: "We are lucky to have him at the heart of our decision-making and I know he will contribute a great deal to the strengthening of our worship and outreach."
