Swindon's Queen's Park secret garden to be transformed

A secret garden in the centre of Swindon is to be transformed into a park thanks to a £50,000 grant.

The Queen's Park Community Council has taken over the lease in the old rose garden in Queen's Park, and wants to redevelop it as a community space.

The gardening charity said it would use the Big Lottery Community Spaces funding to leave a future legacy.

It hopes to restore all the broken paving in the garden so that more people can use it.

Paul Dixon, from the community council, said: "What we hope it [the grant] will do is provide enough money to restore all of the paving slabs to original condition so it makes it accessible so people can walk all the way round the outside."
