Youth, 16, charged over disorder arranged on social media sites

A 16-year-old youth has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent following a fight in North Swindon earlier this month, police said.

He was released on bail to appear at Swindon Youth Court on 16 April.

During the fight in a field near Haydon End, one teenager suffered a knife wound to the stomach and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Wiltshire Police believe the trouble, involving about 20 youths, was encouraged via social networking sites.

Officers were called by people living nearby after they spotted a large group of youths gathering early in the evening of 6 March around Prospero Way, Havisham Drive, Hardy Close and Mazurek Way.
