Wiltshire schools set up co-operative 'to raise standards'

Four North Wiltshire primary schools are to set up a co-operative and work together to raise education standards.

Noremarsh Junior School, Lyneham Primary School, Longleaze Primary School and St Sampson's Infant School in Cricklade are all involved.

A spokesman said the scheme will encourage schools to "pool resources to benefit staff and students".

It is also hoped the scheme will give them greater bargaining power in their negotiations with suppliers of goods.

The schools plan to each change their status from a community to a foundation school, and set up a charitable trust, to be called North Wiltshire Learning Trust.
