First round of grants awarded by PCC's £1m community safety fund
Twelve community projects in Wiltshire are to receive grants totalling £400,000 as part of a scheme supporting the improvement of community safety.
It is the first round of grants being awarded by a £1m innovation fund set up by the police and crime commissioner, Angus Macpherson.
Projects funded include support for teenage abuse victims and a safe haven for vulnerable people.
The money for the schemes will come from the PCC's reserves.
Other schemes awarded grants in this first funding tranche include a boxing referral initiative, mentoring for those leaving prison after short term sentences and a Swindon mobile youth van.
A further £300,000 in grants will be awarded by 30 November and the same amount again by 31 March 2014.
